Topics With Pros and Cons For Parents
Topics With Pros and Cons For ParentsIn his book on parenting, Jonathan Safran Foer writes about topics with pros and cons. I have always been interested in this book because I am not a parent and it does touch on the struggles we as parents face. In fact, I learned a lot from this book and I think it will be a valuable resource for me and my children. The book does touch on topics with pros and cons. One of the topics with pros and cons is responsibility. Jonathan talks about how I am not a 'good' mother. He also talks about how I am responsible for things I did not do.I like to think of parenting as one big team effort. It seems that no matter what the child does or how much I do, I'm not always the best person to blame. I think Jonathan addressed some of this with a discussion of parental responsibility. You never really know how someone else raised their child. Parents are not perfect and we all make mistakes. The more you have to learn and grow from your mistakes, the better. You can never fully remove yourself from the situation if you are not perfect. Just as your child is always learning from your mistakes, so too should you be learning from yours. There are many examples with pros and cons that are found in the book. There are several when Jonathan talks about how he did not follow his doctor's orders and how he came to find out he was allergic to his medications. There are also several about how a parent followed through with a very important decision about his or her child's life. When you are talking about topics with pros and cons, do not become upset. It is normal to get upset. You donot want to react in a way that will only cause you to become angry.Do not be surprised by your child's behavior. In fact, it is a good thing to be able to anticipate what your child is going to do and what they will not do. If you get upset, you will scare your child away. What you should be doing is dealing with whatever is causing your child to act out in a constructiv e manner.Last, avoid using shame when talking about topics with pros and cons. You do not want to be putting your child down because they are acting out in a certain way. You want to be teaching them to feel better about themselves.
